Having witnessed the success of our sister brand Ski Dubai’s celebrations last year, Ski Egypt went above and beyond to celebrate the FIS World Snow Day for the first time this year. On 13 January, we hosted a series of exciting activities at our indoor ski resort. We partnered with Special Olympics Egypt to offer free ski lessons for people of determination. This aligns with our shared vision with FIS to make skiing and snowboarding the first choice in winter sport and recreational activity by making snow accessible to everyone including people of determination.

Ski Egypt also hosted snowsports events such as Free Snow Obstacle Challenges and Free Ski and Snowboard Freestyle Night open to athletes of all fitness levels, as well as family-friendly activities including Free Snow Park Access and Free Snowman Challenge. In addition, we offered Snowman Building and Snow Sculpting, Sledding, Zorbing, Team Building Activities, Clown Shows, and Educational Talks and Presentations.

As a family-friendly destination, guests as young as two years old joined our Penguin March and Penguin Encounters to get up close with our local colony of Gentoo and Chinstrap, in line with the secondary goals of FIS World Snow Day: health, safety, and the environment. Older kids spent the day in our Snow Park and rolled around in giant Zorb snowballs and whizzed down a toboggan-style Tube Run, while thrill-seeking teens and adults took to our slopes and put their ski and snowboarding skills to the test.

During our FIS World Snow Day celebration, we attracted a total of 1,321 guests, including 502 walk-in visitors, across different age groups and nationalities. Over the last six years, Ski Egypt has established itself as one of Africa’s most popular family destinations. It recently placed third in the ‘World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort’ category at the prestigious World Ski Awards, a global initiative that recognises excellence in ski tourism.

Following the success of the first edition of World Snow Day, Ski Egypt looks forward to making it an annual event and introducing more children and families from across the MENA region to snow.
