World Snow Day in Espoo was held in the Leppävaara sports park by the local cross country skiing club Espoon Hiihtoseura. The event which was organized that day was a skiing competition for kids. The youngest participant was five years old and the oldest twelve years old. In total 129 kids took part in the race. The competition was open for everyone in Espoo/Helsinki area and the entry was free. The skiing club was happy to open the competition season on World Snow Day. During the winter there will be five more open competitions for the kids. What made the World Snow Day competition special, was that it was held in the evening and already in January (luckily there was lots of artificial snow on the tracks) and the message of World Snow Day was advertised during the race. All of the kids, their parents and the organizers enjoyed the snow and the atmosphere during the race. What made the kids even happier was that everyone was awarded after the competition with a medal and a glass of warm juice.
